DARK LIPS

Clients with dark lips (typically Fitzpatrick skin type IV or higher) have an increased risk of hyperpigmentation or scarring after Lip Micropigmentation. If your skin tends to heal darker after an injury, your lips may respond in a similar way.

Naturally dark lip color can also be challenging to fully correct with Permanent Makeup. To help achieve the safest and most balanced result, an initial neutralizing session is required. During this appointment, specialized pigments (such as yellow or orange) are carefully and superficially placed into the darker areas of the lips to gently neutralize the underlying tone. Once the lips have healed to a lighter, more even color—usually around 8 weeks later—the desired shade can then be applied.

Some clients are able to complete the process within this timeframe (neutralizing session + Perfecting Visit). Others may need one or more additional sessions to reach their ideal result. The number of sessions needed can only be determined after assessing how the lips heal from the previous appointment.
