MICROPIGMENTATION FOR
DARK LIPS
SKIN TONES FITZPATRICK #4 +

Dark lips (Skin tone #4 or higher on the Fitzpatrick Scale) can experience irreversible hyperpigmentation/ scarring if a certain procedural protocol is not followed. If your skin heals dark after an injury, your lips will also heal dark after micropigmentation.  To avoid this, clients with dark lips require an initial "neutralizing" lip micropigmentation session to be completed before the target/ desired color session can take place.
During the neutralization session, special pigments designed to block dark color are implanted very gently and superficially into the dark areas of the lips.  The target lip color can then be applied 8 weeks later, once lips have healed to a lighter, neutralized color.  The Lip Micropigmentation process for dark lips can often be completed within the normal time frame, with the initial session used for neutralizing, then the 8 week "Perfecting Visit"/ touchup used to apply the target color.  However, some clients may need to purchase of an additional lip micropigmentation session in order to safely achieve the desired end result. Whether or not a client will need to purchase an additional session cannot be determined until we can assess the healed results of the previous session(s).
