DERMAPLANING/ REGENERATING FACIAL
AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS
-
Post treatment, it is extremely important that the freshly exfoliated skin be protected from sun exposure. The treated skin is delicate and very vulnerable to damaging UV rays. Emily will apply a sunscreen to client’s skin after treatment. It is then the client’s responsibility to continue to use a sunscreen with SPF 30+ on a daily basis. Protecting the skin from sun damage by using sunscreen is 100% necessary in order to see any improvement in the condition and appearance of the skin over time. If SPF 30+ is not used, this and ANY regenerating skincare treatment is worthless and/ or even counterproductive
-
Hands transfer dirt and oil to the face. Client should avoid touching their face whenever possible. Phone to face contact should be avoided as well
-
For best result, avoid wearing face makeup for the rest of the day. However, mineral makeup can be worn immediately after if makeup must be worn. Lip, brow, and eye makeup are perfectly fine
-
Some clients may experience redness and mild sensitivity post treatment. This is not unusual and should resolve within 24 hours
-
Avoid extreme heat, saunas, hot tubs, and any sweaty activity for 24 hours after treatment. This includes working out! Heat and sweat during this time frame cause irritation/ inflammation which can lead to bumpy skin texture
-
Avoid products containing exfoliating chemical ingredients (eg: retinols, tretinoin, glycolic acid, salicylic acid) for a minimum of 48 hours after treatment. Morning and night, a gentle cleanser and toner, extra attention to hydration, and sunscreen (am only) are all you need. Baby your skin during this time frame for best results
-
Be gentle with your skin and avoid friction or physical exfoliation (eg: granular scrubs, Clarisonic) for 48 hours after treatment. Washing your face with your hands, not a cloth, is advised during this time frame to avoid possible irritation
-
Client may resume their normal skin care routine and product use 48 hours after treatment, but is advised to wait one week before using harsh products (eg: retinol, tretinoin) in order to avoid possible irritation
Optimal time between treatments is 6 weeks
